Takeoff is a free materials calculator for New Zealand decking, fencing and concrete jobs, operated by Five Rings Retail Ltd ("we"). We've built it to collect as little as possible.
Nothing that identifies you, unless you choose to send us feedback. Takeoff has no accounts, no sign-up and no advertising or tracking cookies. We don't ask for your name, phone number or location.
If you use "Something wrong with this list?", we receive your note, the job sizes and materials list you were looking at, and your email address if you choose to give it. We use this only to improve Takeoff's estimates and, if you gave an email, to reply to you. Feedback is stored by our hosting provider (Netlify) and emailed to us. We don't share it or use it for marketing. Ask us at the address below and we'll delete it.
The job sizes and any prices you type in are saved in your own browser so they're there next time you open the app. That information stays on your phone or computer — it isn't sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure. We don't use this to identify you.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other websites and doesn't identify you. We only see totals, such as how many people visited this week.
If you share or copy a materials list, it goes wherever you choose to send it, through your phone's own sharing tools. We don't see it.
Takeoff gives estimates using common New Zealand sizes and practices. It isn't engineering or building advice. Check quantities, spans, footings and consent requirements for your own site before you buy or build.
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Because Takeoff doesn't collect personal information, in most cases there will be nothing to provide. Questions: hello@takeoff.co.nz.
